The Casual Conservationist goes prime time!

Friday, August 24th, 2007

While in New Jersey, I did an hour-long television interview with EBRU.tv, a Turkey-based satellite television network. I’m not sure when the show will air (after September 10th) but when it does, I’ll send y’all the webcast link. The show airs in Turkey as well as in the rest of the world wherever folks watch their tube via satellite. You may want to get into my good graces now before I become a star cuz once the hammer drops, I may not have time for you. I expect to be as big in Turkey as David Hasselhoff is in Germany. It could happen!!

While preparing for the interview, I bedded down at a beautiful KOA campsite and recorded some night sounds for your listening pleasure. (10 minutes). This is a great download for falling asleep at night in the big, noisy city. Think crickets and rain!

KGNU Interview

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

I gave an interview this morning on KGNU with Maeve Conran, Community Independent Radio at 88.5 FM in Boulder and 1390 AM in Denver. The interview can be heard on the web here. Wade into the podcast 36 minutes to catch my interview!

One of the listeners even stopped by the station on his way to work - my first stalker! Actually, Paul wanted to talk conservation and so the hunted became the hunter. Turns out Paul, who owns a local information technology company, had changed out his many of his lightbulbs from incandescents to flourescents but wanted to learn what more he could do to play his part! We talked a bit and, totally unexpectedly, he bought three books right there on the spot!

What more can Paul do to conserve around the office?

Here’s what KGNU does…

It Begins

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Hot-tailed it up to Oregon last night so I could be on time for my first radio interview and catch up with a tour that was supposed to start a week ago. Of course, the delay was 100% mine and my inability to clone three of me to help put this trip together. Don’t get me wrong - I had a lot of help. But The Casual Conservationist paperback book is finally available - on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and fresh out of the oven at Powell’s Books in Portland, OR.

What a beautiful drive last night. The moon was 3/4 full, electrifying this thin layer of wispy clouds and lighting the entire starlit sky. I wish I didn’t have to rush past Redding, Grants Pass, Ashland and Corvallis but promises to keep.

Conservationville USA 2007 Contender: Ashland, OR
Passing by Ashland, OR, I noticed that the state or city was watering the freeway onramp foilage around Midnight. Bravo! Running the sprinklers during the day is a sure way to waste water and starve your garden, especially during the hot summer months. If Ashland can make the contender list after a 2 minute drive-by, I wonder what other conservation goodies they have off-freeway?

Just finished my first radio interview with Tom Park and his show Pathways. Show airs 8:30 Sunday morning (July 1) in:

Portland - 90.7 fm
Corvallis - 100.7
Columbia Gorge - 91.9
Internet - KBOO.FM

And so it begins.

Casually Yours,
Mongo
